Text Features

This week in Reading Workshop we learned about two new text features. The first text feature we learned about was the index. Students learned that the index helps the reader find the page(s) a specific topic is on. The second text feature was headings. Students learned that headings help the reader understand the title, subtitle, or topic that stands at the top or beginning of a paragraph, letter or chapter. Below are some photographs of students working hard to identify these new text features and then discussing how these text features help us as readers.
